At Frontier Economics Jun Kai works mainly with regulators and businesses in the energy, transport and telecommunications sectors to solve complex problems using economic principles, as well as on legal and competition matters.
In particular, Jun Kai specialises in competition economics; data analytics and visualization; statistical and econometric techniques; and economic modelling and has applied these in the context of merger control; market investigations; and regulatory policy design and implementation. Recently he has worked on projects in Singapore and Australia including the introduction of full retail competition in the electricity sector in Singapore, analysis of the consumer protections and competition in the insurance sector in Australia, and several mergers.
Before joining Frontier, Jun Kai was an economist at Compass Lexecon in London. While there, he assisted various businesses on competition matters before the European Commission and national authorities around the world.
Jun Kai completed his MSc. in Economics and Management at the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2012. Prior to this he completed a BSc. in Economics at the same university in 2011.
Since relocating to Frontier Economics’ office in Singapore from the UK, Jun Kai has been busy reacquainting himself with local food and amenities in his free time. He has achieved moderate success with his personal goal of never having to eat another sandwich again.
