Uber regulated? – New Frontier Economics bulletin

Frontier (Australia)’s latest bulletin considers how we should regulate new smartphone-based taxi apps like Uber. The emergence of such apps to order and pay for taxis could revolutionise how these markets work – and reduce the need for onerous regulation. But not all regulation is bad, and some of it might still be required to keep these markets working smoothly. This bulletin discusses why the key challenge for Australian policy makers is knowing where to stop (over) regulating.

Frontier (Australia) advises regulators and policy-makers on the design and implementation of transport policies.
