Dinesh Kumareswaran’s key experience is in financial economics, utility regulation and financial services. He joined Frontier (Asia-Pacific) in 2013 after spending four years working for Frontier in Europe. Prior to that, Dinesh was a Senior Economist at the New Zealand Commerce Commission. As a consequence, Dinesh provides clients with insights on economic regulation from his experience in a range of countries.
Dinesh has advised regulators and regulated businesses on a wide range of issues including different forms of economic regulation, the principles of best practice regulation, asset valuation, regulatory depreciation, cost of capital, and expenditure forecasting.
He works across all regulated network industries including electricity networks, gas networks and petroleum pipeline businesses, telecommunications networks, water businesses, and rail and ports infrastructure.
In his spare time, Dinesh moonlights as an amateur coffee barista.
Dinesh has extensive experience on financial issues related to regulated network industries. He has conducted cost of capital analyses for regulated electricity networks, gas networks and petroleum pipeline businesses, telecommunications networks, water businesses, and rail and ports infrastructure. He has advised regulated networks and regulators on cost of capital in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, France, Austria, the Netherlands, the Caribbean, Israel and South Africa.
Dinesh has undertaken financeability assessments of regulated businesses, to understand the financial impact of regulatory proposals. He has also conducted profitability analyses in competition cases.
Dinesh has previously lectured a MSc course in regulatory finance at the Imperial College Business School, London.
Dinesh advises commercial clients on valuation issues, discount rates and capital structure. He has applied corporate finance analyses to a wide range of sectors including electricity generation, electricity and gas networks, petroleum pipelines, telecommunications networks, water businesses, rail and ports infrastructure, retail and dairy farming.
Dinesh has also provided corporate finance litigation support to private and government clients in a number of countries including Hong Kong, South Korea, South Africa, Kazakhstan and New Zealand.
